Mayor and Team Disinfect Cars and Distribute Face Masks.
The ravaging effects of the Corona Virus, the skyrocketing infection rates and increase of number of deaths in Bafut has awakened the consciousness of the authorities of the Bafut council who are set to put an end to the number of deceased caused by the COVID 19 pandemic in the municipality.
With five deaths within a period of one week, Lawrence Ngwakongoh the Mayor of Bafut and his collaborators on the 3rd of September, disinfected vehicles running the Bamenda – Bafut road and also shared over 6000 face masks. From Bafut park to the Bamenda food market and a the Ntarikon park, the population hailed the gesture of the Mayor and the team.
The virus is killing many people in Bafut. Several persons have been hospitalized. I am grateful to the Mayor who is not forgotten his people as he frequently come close. He has disinfected the cars and also handed bulk of masks to the drivers to distribute to the passengers not having it. A recipient pointed out.
The distribution of the masks and disinfection of cars is a reminder of the virus existence. The action of the Mayor and team will go a long way to serve the lives of the people. At the moment, the corona virus is gaining grounds along the Nso-Bafut areas as over 30 people are under intensive medical care at the district hospital while others have been sent to the Bamenda Regional Hospital. A passenger pointed out.
The Mayor Of Bafut council Lawrence Ngwakongoh explained “There are several cases in Bafut and if we fail to commence now in order to stop others from been contaminated, I might not have people under my leadership. Families are quarantined, some under intensive care and others dead. I can’t fold my arms after seeing all these.” The fight against Corona- virus is a collective one not that of an individual as the pandemic touches everyone.
