Society : Civil Society Organization Members End The Problematic Text

Bureau Leaders Elected During Extra Ordinary General Assembly.

Members of the Cameroon National Civil Society Organizations Platform christened PLASNOCAM, that was built some years back after the European Union Support project, to coordinate the activities of the civil societies in the country, on the 5th October 2021 during an extra ordinary general assembly decided to review the problematic text that hampered the proper functioning of the organization as well as elect members to lead the network.

Benjamin Serkfem Shufai, the chairman of the monitory and evaluation committee of PLASNOCAM revealed that the mandate that was provided initially, authorizing the president to role for two years without any renewal had been a problem to the functioning of the organization “ The time in the text for the president was two years that gave no room for continuity, stability and did not take into account the challenges of the civil society was too short. It was thought by the general assembly that, there is the need to increase the term to three years renewable once.

These give the president enough time to strengthen things and build relationships. ”The formal text to the members was not flexible as well as did not take into account the realities and difficulties of Cameroonians “. The article 12 stated that, if a member fails to pay his dues within a period of two months, he or she automatically has excluded himself from the platform.

That was practically impossible.” He added the new constitution or text has taken into account the challenges faced by members of the organization. The new constitution states that if a member fails to pay his dues within two years, he loses his voting rights but maintains his membership. Benjamin Serkfem Shufai explained.
The members of the platform are putting hands on deck to rebuild it.
This can only be done through the support of each other.
