Parent Complain Already About Some Publishers.

The Ministries of Basic and Secondary Education recently have published the text books required for the 2021-2022 academic year. Many have been wondering if the books selected respect the norms as stated by the Prime Minister and Head of Government during the March Parliamentary session of the National Assembly.

With a National Textbooks and Teaching Materials Accreditation board that has been accused of corruption and enveloped with chaos at the expense of quality education by some members of parliament, there is no gainsaying that, with such a situation, respecting the prescribed norms will be difficult.

With the evaluation criteria published since March 29, 2018, and known by the state holders of the textbook chain, did the National Textbooks and Teaching Materials Accreditation Board of 23rd November 2017 respect the evaluation criteria of content, physical presentation and Prices?

The government of Cameroon should take into account the interest of our children’s’ education when selecting the textbooks. Last year, the teachers’ complaint about certain books that the government selected whose content was void of important information. This year also, teachers who have seen the lists have been complaining about the books. A parent pointed out.

If the evaluation of textbooks proposed by publishers, following call for expression of interest is carried out anonymously by experts evaluators duly appointed by the education ministers as the Prime Minister proclaimed, why are parents still complaining?

It is high time the state of Cameroon put things in order before the children are taught wrong things in class.
