In preparation for the upcoming Cameroon Cup against Astres FC of Douala, PWD of Bamenda is going for a new bus that will transport the players and staff. To achieve this, a fund raising that was championed by Minister Felix Mbanyu recently harvested the sum of over 6 million FCFA.

To prepare properly for their maiden finals after the 1979 mismanaged bid against Dynamo of Douala, the team is in need of about 29 million FCFA. The club’s management stated. The bus manufacturers are pressurized to hand over an ultra modern vehicle for the team so as to replace the one that was ablazed at Makenene as the club was on its way to Yaounde for an elite one championship match early this year.

According to the manager of bus acquisition committee, the bus that is manufactured in China is expected to get to the country before the finals of the cup whose date is still to be determined. North West Mayors have pledged the sum of 10 million FCFA to support the team in its preparation which has already paid the sum of over 21 million FCFA to the bus suppliers awaiting the balance after delivery.

Created since 1952, PWD Bamenda popularly known as the Abakwa Boys, after relegated to the background of the football scene, again joint the MTN elite 1 championship during the 2016-2017 session.
