Born on April 11, 1959 in Buea, Hon. Emilia Monjowa Lifaka became a member of parliament in 2002. Her political prowess, hardwork and determined accorded her the position of a voted Deputy Speaker in 2009. This position she held for over 12 years until her death.
Honorable Emilia Monjowa Lifaka, a member of Parliament for the Fako West Constituency in the South West Region, was also a member of the Constitutional Laws Committee. The Deputy Speaker of Cameroon’s National Assembly, occupied the post of the Chairperson of the Executive Committee of CommonWealth Parliamentary Association.
During the March 2021 Parliamentary session, she was actively present in all the sittings and chaired certain planaries. In April 17, 2021, she was lastly seen in public jubilating and celebrating her birthday.
The Founder of the Lifaka Foundation, a Non-Governmental Organisation dedicated to help the youths, women and less previledged, gave up the ghost on Tuesday, April 20, 2021, at the Buea Regional Hospital after a brief illness. Before her demise, she wore the cap of the Honorary President of the Network of Female Parliamentarians.
