Prime Minister Reassures The North West Population.
The Prime Minister and Head of Government Dr. Joseph Dion Ngute, during his peace talks visit in the North West Region of Cameroon recently, has announced the resumption of the construction of the Bamenda – Babadjou stretch of road to the population of the North West Region.
Speaking at the Commercial Avenue in Bamenda on the 6th October 2021, the Head of Government pronounced the immediate construction of the Babadjou – Bamenda road, the major road connecting Bamenda to the rest of the country. Prime Minister Dr. Joseph Dion Ngute promised engaging workers and enterprise in charge of handling the road into action “ As soon as I arrived Yaoundé, I am going to summon a meeting with the three companies working on the Babadjou-Bamenda road to commence work immediately.”
The construction of the work on the road that is a nightmare to many and gives the population sleepless nights could not continue because of decisions taken by the government financial partner the World Bank that was sponsoring the project “Since the World Bank has uplifted the ban it placed on the financing for the project because of certain conditions, the work could not start.”
The uplifting of the ban by the World Bank recently has taken away some stress from the Cameroon government and will open rooms for the construction work to start. Dr Joseph Dion Ngute stated “Few days ago, the ban was removed. The construction work of the Babadjou-Bamenda road is going to commence this month.”
Before the Prime Minister’s promise, the Bamenda City Mayor, Paul Achobong Tambeng, urged the Head of government to do everything to solve the problems faced by the people of Bamenda in particular and those of the North West in General. He pointed out “Despite the fact that you brought good car, you still felt the spots on the roads which are very bad.”
With the promised made by the Prime Minister and Head of Government, eyes are wide shot to see the start of the construction of the Bamenda – Babadjou road.
