Society: Teachers’ Unions Address A Letter To The President

Forceful Vaccination On State Employees Condemned.

Santé : Du sang neuf au Centre National de Transfusion Sanguine

The joint press release of the Minister of Public Health Manaouda Malachie and Joseph LE the Minister of Public Service and Administrative reformson the 14th October 2021, forcing all civil servants on the state’s payroll not leaving out even those on retirement to take COVID 19 vaccine from the 5th to the 15th November 2021 when the immunization campaign commences, has provoked members of the Cameroon Teachers’ Unions (SNAES, SNICOMP, SNUIPEN, SNIEB, SNAEF, FECASE, ODE, ONEPS, SNEPMA, SYNTESPRIC, SYNAEPCAM, CATTU, TAC, FESER…) to address a letter to the Head of State Paul Biya exposing their anger over the attacks on Cameroonians individual rights and freedoms.

With a bitter regret, the leaders of the Cameroon teachers’ unions pointed out that the Minister of Public Health, The Governor of the East Region, the prefect of Kadey department have engaged in certain measures imposing the vaccination against COVID-19, on the citizens thereby denying them access to the building hosting their services to any unimmunized persons.

The most provoking decision is the press release No 000019/N/MINFOPRA/MINSANTE of October 14, 2021, instituting a forceful vaccination campaign against COVID -19 in the month of November, for all government employees who are still active or who have been admitted for retirement. The leaders of the Cameroon teachers’ unions reminded the President His Excellency Paul Biya that Cameroon is a Republic, governed by the rule of law and at the moment, there is no legal provision made by the parliamentarians making the vaccination compulsory and that the submission of any immunization against COVID 19 remain free.

Moreso, the members of the teachers’ unions state in their letter that the European Council of Human Rights through Resolution 2361/2021 of 2nd January 2021 declares “No one can be vaccinated against his will and under pressure.”

Reiterate that vaccination at the present time is not a priority, not only at a time when many curative solutions against COVID 19 from phytotherapy and modern medicine are widely known, but also at a time when the republican school is plagued by multiple ills that undermine it, and whose resolution has been directed towards the organization of the National Forum on Education, strongly requested by the unions. The teachers’ union opposed all forms of compulsory immunization against COVID 19 on the government employees under the Ministry of Education. If care is not taken, the teachers might be provoked to go on strike.
