SDO Collaborates With Finance Minister To Torment Citizens.
Over 55 teachers in the Boyo Division of the North West Region of Cameroon are been tormented by the government authorities who have suspended their salaries on basis of absenteeism .
The suspension decision was taken by the Senior Divisional Officer of Boyo Division in collaboration with the Minister of Finance.
The document carrying the names and matricule numbers of Boyo Senior Division Officer Fidele Teghi to the Minister of Finance accuses the teachers of post abandonment and none exercise of duties “The teachers have chosen not to carry out their exercise.”
According to the Senior Divisional Officer of Boyo Division, the students’ success depends on them as they are left to complete the work by themselves “The teachers are leaving the students to cover their syllabuses on their own, whereas, they are paid to provide quantitative education to students who constitute the spear head of the Nation.”
To the Senior Divisional Officer, the teachers who could not carry out their duties in his division are active elsewhere; thereby putting this academic year on its knees “They have chosen to offer their services to other schools out of Boyo Division and are determined to frustrate the smooth progress of the 2020/2021 academic year in Fundong Sub Division.”
In order to punish the teachers, the Senior Divisional Officer believes the best thing to do is to suspend their salaries “ It is necessary for the salaries of the above mentioned teachers to be suspended in a bid to preserve state funds.”
Some teachers are wondering if the government is really interested on the citizens’ wellbeing. I can’t decipher the fact that the state authorities are aware of the insecurity in the North West and South West Regions but still forcing teachers to risk their lives. They are cognizance of the fact that the teachers have also been the target of the separatist fighters. Teachers are always kidnapped, tortured and at times killed. The suspension of the teachers’ salaries by the authorities that be is not only weighing on the teachers but also on their families. A teacher pointed out.
The government of Cameroon should do everything possible to put an end to the crisis in order to make things go back to normal.
