Society:  Traditional Rulers Of Minta Pour Out Their Venom.

Government Given A Period Of 15 Days To Look For Solution.

The Cameroon government needs to act urgently to calm down the population of Minta in the Minta Sub Division of the Upper Sanaga Division of the Centre Region who have voiced out their anger against the state in ability to prove them with basic necessity like electricity which they know is their basic rights.

Through the 2nd and 3rd class traditional rulers, the population has expressed their readiness to look for other energy sources not link to the sole electricity company ENEO that has monopolized the sector without satisfying Cameroonians if the government does not reacting fast. The custodians of tradition through a communiqué to the Prime Minister and Head of Government state “ who have decided to have an alternative apart from ENEO if nothing is done within a period of 15 days as from the date that the communiqué gets to its destination.”

From every indication, the government of Cameroon and ENEO will be at the losing end if the population of Minta turns their back on the electricity company by looking for alternative sources of electrical energy since electricity bills will not be paid. For the past 17 years, the Minta Sub Division has gone without light that has provoked the population wrath.

The inability of the government to provide electricity to the over 12000 inhabitants of Minta in the Centre Region of Cameroon has caused enormous damage in the educational plan as pupils and students can’t read at night, therefore, causing a drop in the performance in schools or public exams.

The absence of electricity in this Sub –Division has caused also huge economic and social damage to the people who could not preserve the perishable goods harvested from their farms. The chiefs pointed out “This is where the wrath of the population vis a vis the absence of electrical energy that has caused enormous damage on the education, economic and social plan of the population.”
Minta Sub Division of the Centre Region in Cameroon is counted among many villages who have gone for years without electricity.
