Cameroon : Parliamentarians Opt Talking About Electricity Cut

Law Makers Mad At Persistent Failure.

The  persistent complaints made by the citizens of the country about the continuous power failure or electricity cut, has reached the ears of the law makers who can’t deny they are touched  directly or indirectly.

The nonchalant attitude of putting Cameroonians in an uncomfortable state by the electricity company Eneo is giving the state authorities sleepless nights. The creation of SONATREL by the Head of State gave the citizens some hopes that the problem of electricity will be solved.

We knew, it will work hand in gloves with Eneo to ensure that power supply be stable by transporting the necessary materials that caused failure. But to our greatest dismay, the situation remains the same. There are quarters in Yaoundé that make days without light. At the Acacia neighborhood for example, a high tension cable is on the road and it seems no one cares about the population safety. A Yaounde inhabitant pointed out.In the North West, South West and in some parts of the East Regions in Cameroon, the cut is alarming. Those living in some parts of these regions at times pass through hell as they go through weeks or months without electricity supply. We have been in this Mamfe town for months without electricity.

We are so used to blackout to the extent that each time we see light from Eneo; we are surprise. Nearly all the households have small generator that supplies us electricity. A source pointed out.To end this cacophony of electricity cut and power supply failures, law makers of the country, have decided to sit up and talk about it once and for all. One of the things that the members of parliament will table during the June 2021 session is electricity issue. I am sure; there is no one in Cameroon who does not complain about electricity cut.

It is high time this issue of electricity is brought to a stop. A source close to the National Assembly pointed out.
