MPs of Foreign Affairs Committee Appraise The Bill.
Members of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the National Assembly have found it worthy for the Head of State Paul Biya to ratify Bill No. 1094/PJL/AN that authorized him to ratify the stepping Stone Agreement towards a Bilateral Economic Partnership Agreement between the Republic of Cameroon and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland because of the benefits it will bring into the Country.
The Bill defended by the Minister of Economic Affairs, Planning and Regional Development on the 11th of June, highlighted the gains of the state if the president ratify the bill. According to Honorable Yaya Doumba Marius, ratifying the bill will enable the country to be economically sustainable. Adopting the bill on partnership with the United Kingdom of Great Britain and the Northern Ireland will enable the country to create a better framework in areas of economic governance, trade and investment and will create better avenues for growth and development. He added.
The Parliamentarians on June 18, 2021 at the Yaounde Conference Center during a plenary session reiterated that, a partnership agreement with the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland would develop and intensify trade and economic relations between the parties.
The partnership agreement according to members of the foreign affairs committee of the National Assembly, would give way to new opportunities for cooperation by sustaining the promotion for foreign direct investment which is needed by Cameroon to fast track its structural transformation.
Since Cameroon export a variety of products to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, namely foodstuffs, manufactured products and wood, a bill like this is very beneficial to the country.
