Bloody Road Accidents Blamed On Poor Cars States.

The majority of the numerous road accidents occurring on our highways have been attributed to technical fault of the vehicles or the poor state of the cars. If this is really the case, the government of Cameroon some pundits say have to be held responsible for allowing cars that do not meet the conditions go around destroying the lives of many.

Many are wondering aloud of the importance of the technical inspections of vehicles in Cameroon when such experience is taking place. With the ministerial Order n°011/a/mint of February 23, 1998 on the regulation of the technical inspection of vehicles by the former transport minister Joseph Tsanga Abanda, eyes are wide shot to see that the vehicles running our road are of good standards. Following the ministerial order, competent technical services of the Ministry of Transport are carrying out control on all vehicles on every working day during working hours.

During the inspection of vehicles, members of the competent technical services are expected to   check. During the state of the chassis and chassis parts, the state of the axle suspension, the steering, the braking system, the transmission, lighting and signaling, wheels and tires and the body parts. These vehicles have to go under serious checks using equipments to detect the faults of the vehicles.

Reports after check are sent to the competent service of the Ministry of transport to establish a technical inspection certificate if the controlled carried out is positive. In a case that the result is negative, the team will produce a report mentioning the fault discovered on the vehicle and if it is discovered that the vehicle state can be dangerous, the owner is given a provisional permit for him to take the car to the garage.

After verification and the vehicle is found worthy to plough the roads, a technical inspection certificate bearing the date and place of technical inspection, the chassis number of the vehicle, the assignment of the vehicle, the date of expiry of the technical inspection certificate, name and signature of the authority of the Ministry of Transport authorized to sign the technical inspection certificate and the stamp of the Ministry of Transport.

The date and place of the technical inspection, the registration number of the vehicle (possibly the number and date of the receipt of payment of technical inspection fee), the number and date of the receipt of payment of the technical inspection fee, the defects found and any repair work out and name and signature of the person in charge of the inspection operations are dished out if the car has technical problem.

The question many are asking is, why are the road accidents blamed on the poor state of the vehicles multiplying on our highways if all the procedures put in place to obtain a road worthy certificate are respected.
