Society : DEADLY ROAD ACCIDENTS ENVELOP TRANSPORT MINISTER.

Jean Ernest Massena Ngalle Bibehe On A Hot Ministerial Seat.

The Ministerial seat at the ministry of transport is becoming to hot for Jean Ernest Massena Ngalle Bibehe  the Minister of Transport who is not having it easy since he took over office from his predecessor Edgar Alain Mebe Ngo. The boss of the ministry must be having sleepless nights and begging on the almighty God to help him look for a lasting solution to the numerous road accidents claiming lives in the country.

The persistent and alarming road accidents recorded nearly every month in the country on our high ways have pushed some school of thoughts to ponder whether the roads in the country have not become express roads to the grave. In Batchenga, some 60km north of the capital city Yaounde, over 22 persons lost their lives prematurely recently as a traveling bus had a collision with a truck transporting sand. The confirmation of the accident and the number of death registered was done by the minister of transport.

While the population in Cameroon in general and the inhabitants of  Batchenga in particular were still mourning the lost of lives of 22 persons, on a Thursday morning, an other accident that claimed 16 lives and injured many others occurred some  50km east of Yaounde on one fateful Wednesday morning between a bus and a semi- trailer truck that collided.

On the 27th of January, 2021, the population of  Dschang of the West Region in particular and Cameroonians all over the national territory were in complete shock over the dead of about 53 people who lost their lives prematurely through a ghastly road accident as a passenger 70 seater bus collided with an oil truck in the Menoua Division.

On Wednesday, December 30th, Father Herve Marie Simo of the Saint John Congregation in Yaounde, the chaplain of the renowned College Vogt lost his life in a ghastly road accident in Pouma along the Douala – Yaounde highway. The servant of God car had a head collision with a heavy duty truck in Pouma in the Littoral Region leaving him lifeless.

On Saturday breaking Sunday, the 26 to the 27th of December 2020 at about 1 am, along the Yaounde – Bafia road, at a place known as the “pont de Nomale” over 35 persons lives were snatched and 18 others wounded through a road accident a day after they had celebrated the Christmas feast. As stated by a communique of the minister of transport, a bus belonging to Avenir Voyage heading to Yaounde collided with a truck coming in the opposite direction in Ndikinimeki, along the Yaounde Bafoussam highway.

The recurrent road accidents amounting to deaths in Cameroon are giving both the authorities and the citizens sleepless nights. The dilapidated roads, over speeding, careless, and lack of control can be accused to be the main course of road accidents registered in the country today.
