WHO Gradually Endorsing Traditional Medicine .

In commemoration of the African Traditional Medicine Day, the Regional Director of World Health Organization (WHO) Dr. Matshidiso Moeti on the 31st August praised Cameroon for providing creative solutions in handling the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Regional Director of WHO stated “Now as part of the COVID-19 response, promising traditional medicine therapies are emerging. In Cameroon for example, the Ministry of Health has approved two products as complementary therapies for COVID-19.

With the support of national and district authorities, traditional health practitioners are also leading the charge in building buy-in for COVID-19 prevention measures and referring patients for timely care. This is contributing to strengthening and building confidence in health systems throughout Africa.”

Worth noting is the fact that, since the emergence of the pandemic, many countries have been heading the campaign for an acceptable solution.

The African Traditional medicine piloted by Cameroon and Madagascar has not been kicked out. The World Health Organization has noticed the world can now count over 40 African countries that have policy framework for traditional medicine.

The Minister of Public Health Dr. Malachie Manaouda, at the National Museum, during the celebration of the 19th edition of the International Medicine in Yaoundé while praising the contributions made by African medicine also beckon on practitioners to sweep adventurers out of the sector.

Governments, research institutions, practitioners and private sectors have been urged by the WHO boss in Africa to tighten collaboration in traditional medicine research and production. The exhibition of traditional medicine and award of certificates to outstanding practitioners crown the ceremony.
