Politics : National Assembly Speaker Re-visit Anglophone Crisis

The speaker of the National Assembly the Right Honorable Cavaye Yeguie Djibril on the 11th November 2021 during the opening of the third ordinary session of the National Assembly reiterated the need for peace in the North West and South West Regions of the country that for the past five years have experienced socio-political unrest.

To the speaker the government should do everything within its powers to ensure peace returns to the two English speaking regions of the country. To him, the priceless peace step that the Prime Minister and Head of Government Joseph Dion Ngute has commenced is highly lauded “ I would like to salute the field trips made recently to the North West and South West Regions by the Prime Minister, Head of Government. In addition to enabling the Prime Minister interact with the peoples.”

The visit of the Prime Minister to these regions is a clear indication that the state of Cameroon is bent to leave no stone unturned to make the population enjoys complete peace “They enabled the Prime Minister to reiterate the offer of peace by the President of the Republic, His Excellency Paul Biya. The field trips, once more, demonstrated the firm determination of the Head of State as “beggar of peace” to actually render the situation in the North West and South West Regions stable.”

The traditional rulers and custodians of customs who have been forced to abandon their places were begged by the speaker to return to their villages of origin to commune with their population “As a traditional ruler, I would like to seize this opportunity to appeal to my peers of the North West and South West Regions who fled their chiefdoms that they should return to their chiefdoms. I could not possibly judge in their stead what is best under the present circumstances, but I wish to humbly remind them that they have the binding duty to work in synergy with government authorities, to contribute their quota in the return of normalcy.”

The Right Honorable Cavaye Yeguie Djibril demonstrated the need to implement the resolutions adopted at the end of the Major National Dialogue that took place in Yaounde from 30th September to 4th October 2019.
