State Canvassing The Sum Of Over 78.6 Billion FCFA.
The Cameroon government is seriously searching for the sum of over 78.6 billion FCFA to completely implement the Presidential plan for the reconstruction and development of the North West and South West Regions totally touched by the socio- political upheaval. The question asked by many school of thoughts or pundits is, why should the state officials talk about reconstruction and development of the two English speaking regions when the crisis has known no end.
The government I think is taking the second step before the first or putting the cart before the horse. I believe what the state should first of all do is look for a solution to the crisis before thinking of reconstruction and development. What will happen if they reconstruct and develop in the heart of the crisis and the things are destroyed again? A journalist asked.
The third steering committee meeting that took place on the 16th September at the star building chaired by Confiance Ebune, the Director of Cabinet at the Prime Minister’s office, happened days after young Cameroonians lost their lives in the North West and South West regions of the country. With the tragic happening of the country, no one would have imagined that the authorities that be would summon the courage to talk about reconstruction and development when the citizens are perishing daily.
It beats the imagination of many to see that, the members of the steering committee of the Presidential Plan are blaming insufficient financial resources as the reason why the plan can not be fully carried out. The eyes of every Cameroonian is wide shot to see that the meaningless crisis that has claimed so many lives and properties be put to an end. Thus no reason talking about reconstruction and development when the citizens are losing their lives.
The Cameroon government instead of looking for a means to bring back peace in the country, has mobilized 10.4 billion out of the 89 billion expected to achieve its goal of reconstruction and development plan.
