Parents Expressing Worries Over The Payment Of PTA Levy.

The rumour over the postponement of the 2021-2022 academic year has been laid to rest by the Ministers of Basic Education Laurent Serge Etoundi Ngoa and that of Secondary Education Nalova Nyonga who have made known the calendar of the year through a decree.

According to both Ministerial decree, the academic year in all public and private institutions commence on the Monday the 6th of September 2021 at 7:30 am and ends on Friday July 29, 2022. Due to the COVID 19 pandemic and other humanitarian crisis that the country is facing the decree stated, learning will either be in class and/ or distance. With the detail program about the re-opening of the academic year on the 6th September 2021, the doubt of many parents have been cleared and those who have been leg dragging to do the necessary preparation, can now commence.

Education people say is the sure way to success.

Now that the Ministers have published a detail program for the academic year and parents are cock sure they are going to have their kids in school after four months of holidays, will the government of Cameroon handle the issue of Parents Teachers Association (PTA) in both the public and private institutions, which imposed the payment of PTA levy on parents when they go to pay fees? Is the payment of PTA levy obligatory? These remain questions that need to be answered.

Some parents have been frustrated by many heads of institutions in the country who either refused to hand their kids report booklets because of the nonpayment of the PTA levy or sent out of school during examinations for same. If the government of Cameroon can give a solution to this problem, the citizens’ worries would have been solved.
