The Sum Of Over 29 Billion Available To Prevent Financial Suffocation.
A partnership agreement has been signed between the National Social Insurance Fund (CNPS) and the United councils and Cities of Cameroon (UCCC) spreading backlog payment of social benefits so that local councils do not miss out on other financial obligations. The signing of the financial documents took place on Tuesday, June 2, 2021 by Noel Alain Olivier Mekulu Mvondo Akame the General Manager, on behalf of the CNPS and Augustine Tamba, on behalf of UCCC, under the aupicies of senior officials of the CNPS and some exco members of UCCC. For long, the Local councils in Cameroon have been under the heavy weight of financial stress that led to the non- payment of workers’ social contributions.
The signing of the convention opens a new page to begin on a plain sheet. The two year period renewable convention, bars the CNPS from forceful recovery of social contributions from the councils. The UCCC has the task to sensitize the council executive in the country about the available facilities put at their disposal by CNPS to enable them pay their contributions without headache.
The CNPS head exposed that the backlog of social insurance payments to the tune of 29 billion CFAF had been written off to prevent the councils from financial suffocation. Noel Alain Olivier Mekulu Mvondo Akame again mentioned that payments have been spaced out over a long period to enable the councils pay workers’ contribution with ease.It is worth mentioning that, any violation of the convention has to be denounced within one month notice. The partnership agreement at anytime could be revised as requested by any of the parties.
The event that occurred at the Head Office conference room of the CNPS in Yaounde, was crowned with the exchage of gifts between both institutions. The president of UCCC handed a certificate of appreciation to the General Manager of CNPS recognizing his services to beneficiaries and the nation in general. Augustine Tamba, appreciated the CNPS boss for giving the councils a payment opportunity to facilitate them carry out their obligations to the crowd.
