Gaston Eloundo Essomba Forecasting A Better Cameroon.
The Minister of Water and Energy Gaston Eloundo Essomba on the 28th June 2021, during a special plenary sitting on the issues of access to electricity and water in the ten regions of Cameroon, has blamed the continuous power failure on the wooden electric polls. The Boss of the energy ministry clearly stated “The distribution process of wooden polls is the origin of electricity interruption.
To him, all the problems faced in the cities, quarters and villages in Cameroon today are as a result of the wooden electric polls. In order to curb down this stress faced by the population today, the alternative of cement polls have been put in place. Gaston Eloundo Essomba revealed “The government has look for an alternative which is that of cement polls”.
Unfortunately for the government, the lack of sufficient economic operators to pilot the supply of cement polls is handicapping the process of the production of the expected number of polls. The government of Cameroon is expecting more than 50.000 cement polls yearly. The Minister of Water and Energy declared our capacity is 55.000 each year.
Therefore, by the end of the year 2021, over 55.000 cement polls will replace the wooden ones. To him, the greatest problem the country is facing today is that of transportation which is gradually handled by SONATREL in charged of transportation and transition. SONATREL recently has commanded over ten new transformers to be added to the six others. With the ten new transformers, the African Nations Cup that Cameroon is to host in January will go headache free as they will help in stabilizing the electricity in the country.
