Right Honorable Cavaye Yeguie Djibril Laments For The Population.
The Right Honorable Cavaye Yeguie Djibril the speaker of the National Assembly on the 28th June 2021, during a special plenary sitting laments on government inability to provide Cameroonians with good drinking water and electricity. To the speaker of the national Assembly, the problem of water and electricity in the country is giving the entire nation headache.
The Right Honorable Cavaye Yeguie Djibril stated blatantly that, water and electricity is important to the society for development. Without enough energy, the country will not experience any development; industries will collapse or will less interested investing in the country, there will be difficulty transforming primary agricultural products and it will a hindrance to modernization.
During the special plenary sitting on the issues of access to electricity and water in the ten regions of Cameroon, the Speaker pointed out that, water and electricity at this age has to be available to everyone. To the greatest dismay, the deficit of this precious liquid and electricity is real and noticed daily. He added.
The constant cut of water and electricity noticed all over the national territory is hindering the proper functioning of the administration, social services and has cost the loss of lives and properties. Surprisingly, despite the efforts made by the government to solve the problem by building dams like the Lom Panga, Mevele etc, the situation of things remain unchanged the Right Honorable Cavaye Yeguie Djibril, the speaker declared.
The access of water and electricity in the country has been a major headache to the population as some towns go for days, weeks and months without water or electricity. The million dollar question asked by pundits is, is the government not willing to stop the monopoly exercised by the electricity and water companies?
