Economic: Cameroonians Abroad Frustrated Investing In The State

A  Favorable Business Environment Prescribed To Attract Investors.

It has been revealed that Cameroonians living abroad are shocked, frustrated and disgusted with the way things are been handled in the country with regards to land access and real estate business. This disclosure was made on the 29th June 2021 at the Yaounde Conference Center during an information and exchange forum on the problem of housing and access to land of Cameroonians abroad.

The president of  the network of Diaspora parliamentarians- regional and cross border cooperation (REP-COP) Honorable Louis Henri Ngantcha pointed out that for those living abroad to invest in the country, certain degree of confidence and trust must be put in place, “Given their physical distance from the territory, our compatriots in the Diaspora cannot  confidently and peacefully follow the realization of their real estate projects in Cameroon”. Without trust and confidence, the image of the country is destroyed.  With the presence of real estate promoters on the way, those living abroad find it cumbersome to realize their projects. Due to this, they are left with nothing than bitterness in hearts since they real estate promoters spend time dishing them out with wrong information.

It is expedient to attract these people for the development of the country because the state lack arms of developments. Including Cameroonians who are in and out of the country will be very beneficial for the country. Those living abroad are imbibed with talents that can fast tract the development of the country, “Our Diaspora is full of immense talents in various and varied and pointed fields. It possesses a useful knowledge and know-how which makes some of them leaders in their fields and with international reputation”.  He made known. The president of (REP-COP) disclosed that, for those living abroad to invest in Cameroon, favorable conditions must be put in place to attract them “the government must take measures to facilitate all sectors of activity and all areas, and these measures must be well explained and well known by our compatriots”.

Those living abroad he stated are in need of secure land for housing, business, build industries and offices.

It is regrettable that while in some countries the building sector represents 4 to 5 points of the gross domestic product and it is an incentive for development, jobs creation and reinforces household consumption, in Cameroon, it is a nightmare.
