Economy: Committee Members Question Ministers on Budget

Members of the finance and budget committee of the National Assembly since Saturday have been very busy with work to ensure that the draft budget of the state for the year 2022 is perfectly defended by the Ministers. On Sunday November 28, 2021 at the Yaounde Conference Center, where the National Assembly is hosted, state ministers in turns defended the budget of the various ministerial departments. The Minister Tourism and leisure, Bello Bouba Maigari, the tourism boss opened the door to defend the budget of 6.9 billion FCFA allocated to his ministerial department.

The Minister of External Relations represented by the Minister Delegate in charge of the Common Wealth Felix Mbayu, answered present to the invitation of the members of finance and budget committee of the National Assembly to defend the budget of 34.8 billion FCFA of that ministry, the Minister of Justice Laurent Esso followed suit to defend his ministerial budget of 64.9 billion FCFA, Ibrahim Talba Malla of the Ministry of Public contracts defended the ministerial department budget of 14.3 billion FCFA.

The boss of the Minister of Territorial Administration Paul Atanga Nji, did not fail to come to the presence of the committee members to throw more light why his ministry should be given the sum of 37.9 billion FCFA. The Minister of Defence Joseph Beti Assomo, who is not ignorant of the present security situation of country has to do everything possible to explain the finance and budget committee the reason why his ministerial department is in need of the sum of 259.8 billion FCFA.

The Minister of Higher Education Jacque Fame Ndongo, had to defend the budget of 63.9 billion FCFA to the same committee members. Worthy of note is the fact that, the 2022 state budget stands at the sum of 5.752.4 billion FCFA as compared to that of last year which was 4.865.2 billion FCFA. This year budget has experience an increase of over 5%.
