Economy: Minister Defends Settlement Bill for 2020 Financial Year

The Minister of Finance Louis Paul Motaze on Monday, November 15, 2021 have acknowledged the fact that Cameroonians are still in facing hardship despite the over 104% graded performance for 2020 financial year.

This revelation was made while defending bill No 2000/PJL/AN in front of members of the finance and budget committee.


The 2020 financial year performance is highly appreciated by the state of Cameroon as it has witnessed a 104% growth despite the difficulties that majority of the citizens experienced that the government is looking forward to handle in the future. The finance boss stated.

The year 2020 has been considered encouraging as many good things happened and projects executed in the country despite the presence of the Corona Virus pandemic in the country which caused a lot of panic or pandemonium in the hearts of the authorities. “With the pandemic right in our country, we had lot of fear.” The Minister of Finance explained.

According to Louis Paul Motaze, the country execution rate cannot be poorly rated “What people have noticed is that the execution was quite good because we have reached all our goals.” The state of Cameroon Louis Paul Motaze pointed out is working hard to experience a 1.9% deficit “With the crisis, we went from a deficit of 4% to 2% and this is the objective, we will like to reach a goal of 1.9%.”

Cameroon just like other countries in the world is witnessing deficit due to the resources and the expenses made. The government is leaving no stone unturned to have a deficit drop “We are trying to make the deficit a little bit low, because if we have a big deficit, we will finance it at the end.” Louis Paul Motaze added.

The Finance and Budget Committee that worked for hours on the Settlement Bill for 2020 Financial year was chaired by the Honorable Moutymbo Ayayi and in the presence of Minister Delegate Yaouba Abdoulaye and the Minister Delegate to the Presidency in charge of relations with the Assemblies, Bolvine Wakata.
