The newly constructed bridge linking Cameroon and Nigeria that was visited recently on the 6th September 2021 by the Minister of Public Works Emmanuel Nganou Djoumessi has taken off the weight of transportation on the shoulders of economic operators of both countries. The Minister of Public Works Emmanuel Nganou Djoumessi revealed that “The bridge over the Cross River has come to normalize and bring closer two brotherly nations, Nigeria and Cameroon, in the wake of the Green tree agreements which established the need for these two countries to co exist harmoniously. We will have to make the most of it by producing better because of a large market is now open up to us”.
The over 21 billion FCFA project jointly funded by the two countries and supported by the African Development Bank, the European Union will go a long way to ease transportation along the Bamenda-Mamfe-Abakaliki-Enugu Corridor. The bridge construction falls within the promised made by the two countries Heads of States to help the population trade easily with each other without hindrances.
