Society: Sultan Ibrahim Mbonbo Njoya Laid To Rest

Prime Minister Joseph Dion Ngute Decorated Him Posthumously.

The 19th Bamoun monarch Sultan Ibrahim Mbombo Njoya who gave up the ghost in France on the 27th September 2021, on Saturday the 10th October 2021 was laid to rest at his Ngon village in the West Region of Cameroon, after an official ceremony. The Prime Minister and Head of Government Joseph Dion Ngute the personal representative of the Head of State Paul Biya was present at the main ceremonial ground where the Bamoun sons and daughters in their numbers gathered to bid adieu to their ruler.

The Prime Minister Joseph Dion Ngute representing President Paul Biya, posthumously decorated the late sultan who was uplifted to the dignity of Grand Cordon of the Cameroonian Merit which remains the highest distinctions of the land after respecting the national anthem and putting in place the main guard of honour.

Dignitaries and guests from far and wide jam packed the ceremonial to pay the last respects to the 19th monarch of Bamoun. During the ceremony, Joseph Dion Ngute, the Prime Minister and Head of Government laid the wreath of the presidential couple on the of the remains of the late Sultan Ibrahim Mbombo Njoya.

The condolence message from the presidential couple praising the late sultan as a lover of sports, a diehard politician and a custodian of tradition was read by Awa Fonka Augustine the Governor of the West Region. The burial ceremony was attended by members of Government, politicians, members of the diplomatic corps, members of Circle of friends of Cameroon (CERAC) and the representative of the President of Equatorial Guinea.
