The Presidency Creates A Task Force To Supervise Management.

The government of Cameroon recently is accused of misappropriation of the Covid-19 funds. This accusation has pushed the state to investigate how the money allocated for this course is used.  The call for more vigilance came up as of the result of the government’s negotiation for multi year loan from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), to combat this pandemic. The zeal to ba accountable for the Covid -19 money gives a glimmer of hopoe that the IMF and Cameroon government will focus greatly on transparency and accountability as the negotiation of a third loan since the pandemic commenced. In order to be more transparent with the fund, Ferdinard Ngoh Ngoh, the Secretary General at the Presidency of the Republic, announced in April 8, 2021, the establishment of a new task force to look over the future Covid-19 spending.

The SG Ferdinard Ngoh Ngoh, himself co opted to manage the « special fund of national solidarity » that was established at the start of the pandemic. The Prime Minister and Head of Government, through a letter from the SG, was asked to give a detailed account of the sum of the 180 billion CFAF, spent regarding the pandemic. Ferdinard Ngoh Ngoh, the SG between March 29 and April 8, through sent  letters finding out about the Covid-19 spending. When the Secretary General at the Presidency of the Republic started asking for detailed account into the spending of the funds, hopes were raised knowing that, the fund will used judiciously.
