Cameroon : Senator Victor Mukete Laid To Rest

Thousands Pay Last Respect To The Fallen Hero

Thousand of people jam packed in Kumba, the chief town of Meme Division in the South West Region to pay their last respect to Nfor Victor Esemingsongo Mukete who died on April 10, 2021. Government administrators, traditional and religious leaders Coming from Cameroon, Nigeria and Europe, were saddened by the departure of the paramount ruler and king of Bafaw.

Aboubakary Abdoulaye, the senior deputy speaker of the senate representing the President of the Upper House of the Parliament described late Senator Victor Mukete as one who will forever affect the minds of Cameroonians. A patriot a pioneer architech of reunification who has touched the lives of many.

Prince Abel Mukete, one of his sons explained " He was a visionary leader who played an important role in the development of his people and community. The senate, which he served in various capacities contributing enormously to Cameroon’s Economic growth, would also miss him".

Rev Fonki Samuel the moderator of Presbyterian Church in Cameroon during the funeral service at PCC Bastor, after reading from John 5:24, pointed out that Chief Nfon Mukete has transformed the culture of his people in the name of the father, son and Holy Spirit and not that of the gods of his land.

Paul Atanga Nji, the Minister of Territorial Administration, personal representative of the Head of state to the official burial of Late Senator Nfon Emeritus Victor Esemingsongo Mukete posthumously raised him to the rank of the Grand Cordon of the Cameroon Order of Merit.

Before his demised, Nfon Victor Mukete was an influential member and contributor to the Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement (CPDM), the presidential party. He was a strong advocate of federalism. He did not relent his efforts  trying to resolve the anglophone crisis.
